RESEARCH
Research areas at LESL include: Landscape Ecology, Urban Ecology, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning, and Sustainability Science.

Our research focuses on the following topics: (1) the effects of landscape pattern on population and ecosystem processes, (2) urbanization and its ecological consequences, (3) biodiversity and ecosystem functioning and services, (4) scaling of patterns and processes in landscapes, and (5) sustaianbility measures and models.

Our research approaches combine theoretical and empirical methods, with the extensive use of remote sensing, GIS, spatial analyses, and simulation modeling.
