To promote global sustainability, Inner Mongolia University (IMU) and Arizona State University (ASU) jointly established the Sino-US Center for Conservation, Energy and Sustainability Science in Inner Mongolia (SUCCESS) in December 2007. The center fosters the fusion between ASU's rapidly growing research capacities in sustainability science and Inner Mongolia's enormous opportunities for large-scale projects of international significance.
SUCCESS provides a platform for international collaborations, particularly on use-inspired, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research relevant to sustainability issues that occur during the socioeconomic development in Inner Mongolia and its neighboring regions. It also encourages comparative studies that explore the generalities and idiosyncrasies of sustainable development in different regions and nations. The ultimate goal of SUCCESS, as the first research center of its kind in China, is to promote the science and practice of sustainability in China and around the world.
SUCCESS is physically located on the campus of Inner Mongolia University, Hohhot. The center organizes a series of activities for professional training and scholarly exchanges, particularly between IMU and ASU.
